Matching System Percentages

If I'm matching a multiple selector (checkboxes) with four fields against a drop selector, would the correct match percentage be 25%?

To be honest, I'm not sure I fully understand the matchmaking algorithm. Is the cupid mail triggered by matching a set percentage of the fields as determined by individual match percentages? For instance if you've set matching for 10 fields at a threshold of 20%, and you have the auto email set at 80%, would you need to match 8 fields at 20% for the email to go out?

No Kidding, DosDawg. Right now it's serving up both men and women regardless of sex, and displaying matching percentages greater than 100. I have no idea how to configure it properly.

Can anyone help me w/ this, or link me to an explanation of matchmaking on Dolphin 7. I'm unable to get the system to work correctly at all--men matched with men, percentages greater than 100, etc. Thank you.

did you ever figure out this matching issue?

Can anyone explain how matching percentage works? I have looked through the forums and there does not seem to be any real clear explanation.

Thanks!!

Yes, unless there is a miracle in 7.2 it doesn't work and it's never worked.

All the matching system does is send out a lot of spam. Match and couples are my two least-favorite features.

Believe it or not, I actually got it to work somewhat in conjunction with IBDW's Summary Wall for "People you may know", suggestions on based on percentage of similarity.

I set fields X, Y and Z to 20% each and the similarity displayed at 60%, which seemed fine.

But when I tried to match two unrelated fields, it didn't work; i.e. Member A has "beer" in "I'm offering" field, and Member B has "beer" in "I need" field - I set them to match at 40% at they don't seem to link. The similarity suggestion still shows at 60% instead of 100%.

It seems for my purpose, it can easily match two of the same fields (profile questions), but it doesn't seem to match two different fields together.

If anyone knows a trick, please share.

Happy Labor Day for those of you in the U.S.!

Even if it looks like its working be careful because its going to send hundreds of duplicate emails to your members and the next thing you know the major email providers are going to blacklist you thinking your spamming.
