Market gems

I'm bored, so I thought I'd talk about things I've stumbled upon in the market.  First up:

http://www.boonex.com/m/site-exit-survey

According to the description, when someone logs out of your Dolphin site, a form will pop up asking them why they are leaving your site??  Ummmmm..... I'm just logging out.  Is that allowed?  I mean... I'm just going out to lunch.

Next up:  http://www.boonex.com/m/geoip-blocker-allower

You can currently snag this one for only 35 bucks. Hurry though... it will soon cost 65 bucks. One of the prerequisites for installing this little gem, is that you have GeoIP installed on your server.  Then you can use this mod to modify your .htaccess?? Huh?  Hey, I'm smart enough to install GeoIP on my server, but I'm lost when it comes to adding a few lines of text to a file on my server... this terrific module will help me with that.

Want to create some real friction on your Dolphin site?  No problem with: http://www.boonex.com/m/profile-reviews

With this stroke of genius from Anton, you can really tell other members what you think of their stupid profile. This is just what every Dolphin site owner needs... the ability for its members to write complete reviews on other peoples personal information. Hopefully, Anton will come up with a "Fuck off" module to compliment this one, so profile owners can respond to the invasion of privacy the profile review module creates.

 LOL ... 'HL Reviews'

This this pretty funny ... Maybe a F*ck Off module just to respond to the shitting comments posted by others in the profiles reviews

Hopefully, Anton will come up with a "Fuck off" module to compliment this one, so profile owners can respond to the invasion of privacy the profile review module creates.

HL- The new Boonex "GUNNER"?

lol - had a conversation with someone on a similar situation a while back. I removed the comments section from the Profile View page because - to me - it would make for bad business all around.

I had to do the same! the spammers that managed to get through into my site was instantly hitting the comments block at profiles ...

Just another one of my efforts to get module developers to raise the bar a bit.

Profile comments, renamed to Guestbook, is an important thing to have on a true social networking site.  In fact, I had to make some changes so that new comments are shown first and not the arse-backwards way by default.  If I removed the "Guestbook" from my site, the members would revolt on me.  I am not big on leaving comments on one's profile page but the majority on a social site do want that feature and it needs to allow adding rich content as well.

So far the spammers are not targeting the member's Guestbook (if they are, members are not telling me), they target the blog module the most and once in awhile the forum; occasionally both.

roflmfaop - I had not even thought about the spammers. I was thinking more of the hateful/vengeful exes who would post a string of negative comments on someones profile. For what we are doing, THAT would cause big issues.

Yes, I can imagine, not a good idea for a site like the one you are building.
