Localised Region Filter

A great feature that could be very well utilised for Dolphin would be a localised region filter.

Something that auto detects a users location and automatically filters content to their region.

The Google/Bing maps that are installed on some mods seem to do this, auto display nearest events etc...

Do you think there's a way to auto display local content maybe in outline, or on a 'local block' on each module? This would be a GREAT module to have on market...

Someone linked me to this listing site that's just been launched (not mine and am not promoting it). It has zero content by the looks of it, but notice it asks for permission to use your location when you first load it... this would be great, or just do it without asking if thats legal???

Any thoughts...

That sort of things. But then how to make this so Dolphin recognises it, and then displays localised content!......

I asked many of the top developers about this a year ago and go a resonding "no, geolocation is the problem".

I wanted it so that when a user or guest visits my dance site there was a block that showed them the nearest 10 salsa dancers to them etc.....

Shame as it would be awsome.

Hmm, I wander if it is possible for a mod that when a user inputs their postcode, the mod then filters RSS feeds from each module and displays them in a new pageblock... outline style would be nice :-)

It would be possible, so I was told, but I wanted it to be automatic too.... via ip or postcode.

Who was talking to you about it being possible? I would need by postcode as my site will be UK only with local content...!

Might be a custom job?
