I've always believed boonex.com should have a section of the site dedicated to Coders available for hire. We only have the market and jobs section, but that doesn't make it much easier to find coders for custom work. Posting in the jobs section brings a lot of responses from people that have only a few posts here, and you don't really have a good feel for who they are,or what their qualifications are.
If any Dolphin module developers are available for custom work, would you please make a post in this topic, and tell a little about yourself, cite some examples of your work, and estimate what your availability for the next six months may be.
I need some rather complex custom work done, and I am having a difficult time finding someone. Please refrain from telling me to make a post in the jobs section. I will not disclose the details of the project to the entire planet.

I do custom work but don't think i can take a full site modification job currently. I only take tweeks here and there now. I don't take big time taking jobs cuz i need time to study too. so much to do.... |

Not really what I'd call a full site modification, and though is may be complex, I don't think it will be difficult to understand. I can't disclose specifics about the module functionality in a public forum, but generally speaking, it will allow users to build a list of items that they select from a database, and each item will have a set of parameters attached. Various parameters will be summed, and displayed graphically. List items will be selected using a live ajax search. It's quite interesting.

Hi Houston,
like the idea.
Have you checked out the Boonex group on Odesk? Maybe you'll find the right person there.
Good luck.

Odesk is useless. I went over Odesk with a magnifying glass. Everybody claims to be an expert, but the info they provide about themselves and their work examples (or lack thereof), lead me to believe otherwise. I think the idea is to have a list of developers for hire here at the BoonEx site and not some other site.
I think HL's idea is a good one actually. I mean we got the Market, Jobs, Hosting sections.. why not a 'Developers' section that people can contact directly with custom projects they would like done.
Maybe something like a profile page that contains experience, examples, etc. with a link to contact them directly.

I poked around there too. It looks to me to be a bunch of people who might know about coding but know nothing about Dolphin. Dolphin isn't really one of those platforms you can jump into and start writing code for.. and most people don't want to wait around while someone they hire to do a job learns it from the ground up.
I think the idea for having our own section here is a good one.

I have had a bucket load of 100% custom development and also lots of custom extensions to modules done over the last 2 years.....
IMHO.... Stick with the top 4-5 dolphin coders. So, there can be language barriers but it is well worth the effort. Take time to build up solid working relationships and trust with them and it will all be worth while...
On the same note there are coders on odesk and unity that I would never let withion 1000000 miles of my site.

The lack of response in this thread, illustrates the problem perfectly.
A human resources section on boonex.com would be a good start toward providing some relief.

What about a dedicated section in the Forums area? It may be simpler to implement. I could contact AlexT and see if it could be done.

I'll pass on the forum thing. If that's what we started off with, we'd be stuck with it forever, Besides, we'd need better searching than forums can provide. People for hire would need to be tagged with all their skill sets, ie php, mysql, javascript, ajax, css,.. etc
