Licensing issue - topic number 30,987

When are Boonex going to sort out this licensing issue????

How many of us purchase the adfree license, go through the process of licensing and STILL have the boonex ads at the bottom?

I have done the WHOLE process. Remove old license. Clear Cache. Logout Admin. Clear cache on browser. flush Windows7 DNS Cache. Goto Cpanel. Clear out cache and cachepublic folders, (not .htaccess). Log back in to admin. Enter license code. It appreas in my admin panel, and in phpmyadmin license code field BUT STILL the ads appear.

This is extremely poor.

Seems like bad coding to me.

I spoke to my webhost about this program, and informed should not run any slower on shared hosting. Why try to sell us VPS or Dedicated server? OK. Security improved. But speed? mmmm.

My installation also has NO mods. I reinstalled to the letter from the dolphin download. All pages except login load pretty fast. But WHY when I login does it take 25 -30 secs to load???

AND still the boonex ads.  NOT IMPRESSED.

And the forum responses are pretty slow too, with all due respect to some of the guys I have spoken with and dealt with.

Come on Boonex. You could have a great product here. Sort out these COMMON issues, and build a reputation.

Check in your licence area here and see if the licence got registered to your domain. http://www.boonex.com/websites/licenses

If not then your server is not properly communicating with boonex.

Is allow_url_fopen enabled in php?

Other symptoms of this. Does the boonex news feed on the home page load?

Have you checked in your site in admin host tools for other problems?

Is your server properly resolving DNS?

Other symptoms of this. Does the boonex provided facebook connect module work?

Now i can't explain your slow logons. I do not experience that problem and never have with any of my sites.

BoonEx can not fix user errors (read: server configuration).

Hi Deano.

Thanks for the reply.

In reply to your questions:

In license area it still says unregistered, although in admin my code has been entered by the program.

allow_url_fopen is enabled

boonex news feed on homepage does NOT load, just the icon keeps spinning.

Is your server properly resolving DNS? I dont understand this, sorry! Can you explain? :)

facebook connect module works.

Any advice?

I really appreciate the reply.

Chris

Hi Nathan.

I dont consider this to be a user error.

I have followed all instructions, and my server config is OK.

I am certainly not the first person to have problems with this. I understand I am new to Boonex/Dolphin, but the instructions for installing the adfree license is not as clear as it could be.

Chris,

As soon as I saw this thread your other thread popped into my head. This problem is the same problem that is causing login to take so long on your site. Your server isn't connecting to Boonex's server... that's why:

1. The login is taking 25 seconds. The site is trying to connect to Boonex to verify your license, it finally gives up and logs you in.

2. The news feeds are not showing up.

3. The boonex ads are showing up.

If you figure out why it isn't connecting you'll fix all 3 issues.

I have to agree with mscott.

The issue is your server is not connecting to the boonex server.

So, there is indeed a problem with the server somewhere. It is not a boonex issue.

You need to talk to your host. The server is not connecting to boonex and that cause has to be found. It could be anything. Firewall, DNS, misconfigured hosts file, mod_security, any number of possible server side issues.

OK guys.

I appreciate your replies.

Firstly, when I first Dolphn, I installed it to my root.

I had some template issues, and the same problem with the boonex ads.

I was using the new zzz_template from AndrewP.

After a few messages back and forth, after Andrews recommendation, I put the below code into the bottom of the sub_footer.html file.

<div style="display:none">

__boonex_footers__

</div>

before <bx_include_auto:_footer.html />

After much trying of clearing caches etc, eventually the ads disappeared.

I was still having slow login problems, and contacted my web host. They recommended that I uninstall Dolphin as it was a Softlcous installation and try installing directly from Boonex via their instructions which I have done to the letter. I installed to a subdirectory this time, and have loaded a different template. All is fine other than the boonex ads and login issue.

I have tried adding the code mentioned above to the new templates sub_footer.html file but it has made no difference.

I cant see how this could be a server problem regarding the ads as I have not made any changes to the server settings than was before.

Can you advise me what to say to my hosts?

A lot of this is gobbledegook to me!

I really appreciate your advice Mscott and Deano

No problem, glad to help.

The fix Andrewp gave you wasn't really a fix, it just hid the ads from showing up when using his template.  So the server was probably never connecting.

Tell your host that you are using software that makes a call out to another server and it isn't connecting for some reason. They should be able to look at the logs and figure out why.

Of course, this is not a fix, this is temporarily possibility to hide ads. Anyway, its better to verify your own domain at boonex.com (through licensing). Especially if you have already had your own license key.

Update: I have contacted my hosts and they have verified that it is a communication problem

They are requesting a ping back from Boonex.

I have submitted a support ticket and awaiting a reply.

I will let you all know the outcome, in case anyone else experiences this problem.

Well, the outcome was this:

I came home from work this evening, and miraculously all was well!

Boonex Ads are gone, License is registered, and the login speed is (i think) normal!

So, one happy bunny here.

I have not heard back from my support ticket to Boonex.

I contacted my host, and they said that they took down a firewall yesterday, but it didnt seem to improve things.

So, either the firewall being taken down cured the problem, or Boonex have done something that has cured the problem. My money is on my hosts firewall....

But thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction. I couldnt have done it without your help. So my thanks to Deano, and mscott for your help!

AND I solemnly take back my outburst against Boonex in my first post in this topic. Lesson #1 Dont shoot your mouth till you know the facts. Wink

Cheers Chris

You're welcome, glad it's working for you.

Don't worry about the outburst, we've all done it before. I remember my first one like it was yesterday, lol.

I always wondered, what happens if the route to the servers is gone, no matter why, will boonex ads appear on my site or is there some caching mechanism implemented so it knows its licensed already?
