Languages with D7

In D7, is it going to be possible to simply save the entire default english language file as a second language file, so that nothing changes in the first language - as translations are being made in the second language (that's not being used yet)?

I'm asking because I got a link through expertzzz which got me to a german based dolphin 6.1 translation for which I paid quite a bit of money (including the admin functions) ... and that translation sucked CRAP big time !!! I feel completely ripped off and next time around I'd like to just go ahead and translate from scratch ... make the community site perfect in english first, and then translate everything, including custom fields etc. afterwards into German.

Boonex, in order to be the best or one of the best in the global marketplace those language files are critical ... and if D7 doesn't come with a bunch of language files ready to go, then at least the procedure to generate a new language file has to be something that ANYONE in ANY COUNTRY who purchases dolphin ... can actually work with relatively easily. Yeah, I know a bunch of people may think that it's no big deal, but I'm here to tell you that translating D6 language keys is a nightmare for me ... and unless I'm the dumbest kid who walks this planet, there'll be plenty of others (customers) with same/similar problems ... and that in turn "translates" to lost revenue and lost clients ...

I totally agree with you. I spent the last few hours looking for langauge packs or at least files that I can translate to my Language (Arabic) but it seems that the language thing is a floating issue.

I'm not asking anyone to do it for me but actually looking for technical data about language translation. Language is a major issue if we're talking aout building communities in such a small world. I looked in the main downloaded folder and the only lang file is empty. The rest of the lang files belong to their modules which is understood but the main site not having a language file is something odd.

I translated hundreds of scripts and never felt lost like I'm now with Boonex. It is important for me because I believe there are special hosting requirements for Boonex to work properly and I'm not gonna pay for a dedicated server to discover that Boonex is not capable of being fully translated to my language.

D7 if it is going to use a totally different structure then there is no point of starting a language translation just to redo it after few weeks.
