Join Photo Upload not showing

I've removed the avatar module and only use profile photos.

On joining my members photos are not showing and they dont show in the site itself - anyone any ideas please?

You answered it yourself actually. You removed the 'Avatar' module. The profile photo from the join page is for an 'Avatar'. Unless the user has checked the box to 'copy to profile photo', then it wouldn't show. May not anyways with the Avatar module being uninstalled.

If you only want regular photos, then you need to remove the 'profile photo' block from your join form.
