Janrain RPX

Morning / afternoon all,

I have just installed the Janrain RPX mod on my site (www.chineseenglishcommunity.com) and set up and generated the key  etc. but when I click on the login box I get the following message:-

We're sorry, this page no longer exists or you have been directed here by mistake.

Please use your browser's back button to return to the previous page.

You can also try visiting our homepage at janrain.com or browsing the Janrain Engage documentation to find what you're looking for.

Has anyone got the faintest idea where I am going wrong? I have tried everything.

any help or advice would be helpful

Cheers

Martin

Trying to get help or support is a nightmare unless you pay $100 for a mod that does not work!

yep... i think this mod is pointless, why they share it free if that not work.

The entire concept is confusing at best but the end product is flawed in concept but it will work. The concept is confusing for most members who think they joined after they just gained access. All they have to do is keep pushing the same button but that is tough to convey.... There are several threads on why the concept was a drop of the ball and how to improve but programmer showed no interest..... If you want it the free aspect is a teaser if you can't figure it out you PAY!!

I too tried this on another site, I got the same results.

Instead of you fixing; could we get some usable instructions for this?

This might be an idea ...

Go to:- http://lists.openid.net/mailman/listinfo/openid-board and send an email to openid-board@lists.openid.net. FAO Brian Kissel, Chairman Janrain.

I'm sure that if they receive enough complaints about the lack of service and support then something will be done - fix it or close it.

Good luck all and let us know how you get on.

The message that your ladies and gentlemen are receiving is likely the result of you typing in the wrong application name in the RPX configuration in the Dolphin Admin Panel.  At the beginning of the RPX configuration on the Janrain Website, they'll ask you to name your application.  It's structured something like https://login-yourwebsite.rpxnow.com/

Well, when you configure RPX in Dolphin, what worked for me is simply using only a portion of this such as: login-yourwebsite

It's a bit confusing but after configuring it this way, everything worked out fine.  There are a couple of additional steps that you'll need to take such as adding your domain to Janrain (within the Janrain Website) and getting your social networking APIs (from the Social Networking Sites that you'd like to use).  Those part should be pretty simple though.

This is the error I'm referring to:

If the Janrain site goes down for maintenance or whatever, the module does not work. Deano's mod is much better, you do not need a Janrain/RPX account.
There are none so blind as those that will not see.

that is true, I don't think it will go down enough to affect my usage.

I am using deanos facebook module in conjunction with this one..

I don't have facebook configured on the Janrain site, this gives me "seven" options for users to sign up and login.
