I'm in the market for a new server, not for production but home use.
Is this a good server?
The price is $230, that seems reasonable right.
Dell PowerEdge 2950 III Server 32GB 2x Xeon L5420 6 x 500GB SATA PERC 6i RAID
I already own two Dell PowerEdge 2650's but they are old and need new drives, so those are going to the recycle place.

Looks like a great deal to me. The hdd's alone cost that much. I would without doubt pull the trigger on that. Good find Newt. Ultra Newb reporting for duty. |

As far as deal goes, it looks nice.
Tho, I wonder what kind of workloads its supposed to do, that pairing of 2 super weak and old CPU with 32 GB of ram :/
so much to do.... |
No it's not a good deal. You can get a better price on ebay for that 8 year old server any day of the week. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |

No.
eBay actually, and the company is Garland Computers in Garland TX.
Anyone close to them can save the $100 in shipping.

nothing for the main machine but the raid cards have small batteries on them so it will hold the data until the next power up then write the data to disk. https://dolphin-techs.com - Skype: Dolphin Techs |

I was doing that but just the slightest power brownout knocks it off and it kept screwing my databases up. Had to get a better system than I had.
