Is there a way to lock a members Membership level

I'm struggling with some quirky things in a mod I'm using for upgrading memberships. Unfortunately it seems users get reverted back to lower memberships automatically if certain triggers occur. Working on getting this resolved but in the meantime is there a way at database level to "lock" the individual membership level if wanted.

One reason, for example, is I have a "admin" level membership that I manually assign to some users. Once there I don't want it to be automatically changed accidentally. I'd think there may be a way to lock the level.

As an admin you can assign membership level to users which aren't expiring, just edit profile under admin:

Admin Panel > Members > click on any member and edit membership level in this block
