Is there a 10K user limit to Dolphin?

I am considering using Dolphin for a social website but read that there is a 10K user limit.

Is this true?

Is anyone running a site with more than 10K users? I expect (optimistically) that our user base will exceed that.

Hello bearclaws,

I have been on these forums for a few weeks and it seems like the best person to ask that question to is "sammie".  She uses the software on several sites.  But from looking at the DB/Code I haven't found any limit on the number of members you can create.

Now performance is another question.  If you have a lot of users access the site at the same time, you may seem performance loads (which is why load balancing would be awesome) as you have more and more signups.  I think alot of these are going to be answer in the new vesrion of Dolphin 7, but I would install and get used to the Dolphin 6 platform since the base code is the same.

Thanks.

Hi BearClaws,

The limit is measured by your server or hosting resources. Dolphin is a database-driven application and the more resources you have available the more users you can service. I hope this helps.

Yes, their is no specific user limit for users.

It all depends on your bandwidth limit/site size.

Thanks.

In reading further in the poster's post I realized that the user's hosting provider was limiting their usage - not Dolphin itself. This is good news. I'm planning to host on my own dedicated server.

Cheers!
