Is simple messenger missing?

My members used the feature a lot, and a bunch just decided to tell me they are disappointed they can't use it anymore. I didn't even realize it vanished.. Has this happened to anyone else?

I just checked the demo site and Simple Messenger is still included with Dolphin 7.4.x.  You must have something else going on.  Did you log into admin to make sure the module is installed?

If the module is installed but you are not seeing it in the member bar; then you need to think about any recent changes you made to your website that could be interfering with it.

I haven't used simple messenger in a long time, preferring comet chat over the Boonex simple messenger.  Therefore, I installed 7.4.2 test site and added a member.  It appears that you have to go to the member's profile page and at the bottom of the actions block is a chat input.  You type into input, say "Hello, want to chat?" and hit enter and it will initiate the Simple Messenger that will pop up on the member bar.

And one other thing is that it may be tied to membership levels; so check that as well.

Thanks! Yeah I'm actually still on 7.3.5, but it seems it was working 2 months ago, so it seems like something went wrong. The feature is installed, and looks like it's active. Membership levels haven't changed to disable it. So it might be something server side.. I put in a ticket at Zarconia for them to help, hopefully they can figure this out!

Thank you for your suggestions!

One thing you may not be aware of: The Simple Messenger initial contact form doesn't appear on a person's profile unless that person is online. That's perfectly logical because the whole purpose of Simple messenger is to chat with another member. Something you can't do if they're not there.

I use it a lot and find it's really good. You can download a FREE beep by AntonLV from the market which is also handy. I have the beep and I make Messenger flash about 20 times. Despite that, members still complain about the "strange" beep and how can they stop it.

Like many features of Dolphin, you will need to educate some members.

Simple Hint: Always create a test member as well as your own profile. Use another browser to login as that member, then use your normal browser to log in as you. That way you can interact with the test member and test these things.
