all you have to do is wait!

Why wait? Who knows when 7.1 will be out.... it could take 6 months....maybe more.

After UFO posted this, I realized what a great feature this is.  I hadn't really thought about it before.  This is something that can be really useful and easy to use without any type of integration, especially if it imports your contacts from popular webmail services.  All you really need it to do is import the contacts and send an invite mail to them all.... what's to integrate?

I found a commercial script that I liked, so I bought it and installed it on my site.  Then I just created a new block on my front page.  You can see it, and test it here: http://houstonlively.com/ I'm going to remove that link after a while, because every time I post a site link on boonex.com, I get a wave of spammers signing up.

I have some CSS work to do on the popup window, and some tweaks to do on the block, but everything is working.  Feel free to test it.   Obviously, on a live site, I would not have the block visible for guests.  Don't worry... it's a commercial contact inviter script, and absolutely DOES NOT store any of your passwords.

Thats a neat find and is great in getting out your site.

But one item to caution.  If you have an invite only site you will not be able to use such an inviter without first changing it to interact with the program so the invites can be used to join your site.

Not 100% sure of your exact meanin of "invite only site".  Do you mean a join by invitation only site?

What I got will work just fine for me.  I realized this was too good of a feature to wait, and it only cost me 80 bucks.  I can format the message that is sent to invitees any way I want to, so it should be useful.  Time will tell.  This commercial script has a really good back end.  I like to use commercial scripts over open source whenever I can... they always seem to have a lot more polish.

Very very good!

Is this getmycontacts or the other link you've written?

Thx

RE: that's realy nice scripb bro onyour site but i'm looking one with more emails and socialnetwork

Verbatim, from the FAQ section of the site where I purchased the script:

20. Why the script does not provide inviting contacts from social networks (Facebook, Myspace, etc)?

Inviting contacts from social networks is not quite legal and it is not recommendable.
As you know, these networks does not show the email addresses in contact list section.
So, to send the emails, the script must use social network's internal message center.
In this way, your server may be banned by these networks and your user's account can be affected.
Inviting contacts from email providers is legal because the emails are sent using your own email server.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather not put any prospective member's Facebook or Myspace account at risk, or have my server blocked by these social networking sites.  It would be a losing situation for everyone.

Yes, it's hard enough to get members.  It's best not to make anyone mad.

Thanks for bring up this topic.  Until I ead your post, this wasn't  something I gave any thought.  Now I realize it's a must-have feature.

You can make it working...install it in a subdirectory...in dolphin add an html block with a link to OpenInviter's invite page and all work good!
