Internal server error

Hi :)

I have server issues on my website and i really don't know what to do :/

I bought a module, tried to install it and from that point, the access to my admin stopped/ blocked.

In order to solve the problem, i deleted the htaccess after saving it on a notepad and i then reinstalled it. The website disappeared and an internal server error showed up.

What shall i do ? :(

remove the files for module

make sure DB tables for the module is removed

add your original htaccess again / add new htaccess

see if that helps ...

500 Internal server errors usually indicates there is issue with the website's server ...

check your error logs also !!

 What would help is knowing the name of the module.

I know of a couple vendors modules that if not done properly will do this exact thing.

If you mean notepad that comes with windows, then this is one mistake. Do not use windows notepad to edit any dolphin files. It's a text editor, not a code editor. It is not safe to use for code. It has a tendency to damage them by adding inappropriate white space to the files.

Use a code safe editor such as Notepad++ http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ or Editplus http://www.editplus.com/

OK, so I assume what suggested didn't work .... I think you damaged htaccess and should replace it with original one. As Deano stated it's possible you notepad harmed it.

AHHHHH !!! Your site is now working .... what did you do to fix  ?

I contacted the person who had sold me the template , gave him access to cpanel,... and he managed to fix it :)!

He said it was a problem with urls or something, I didn't really understand but everything works now! :)

Thank you very much for your advice. I won't use notepad again.

As i'm not very experimented, i'll avoid touching the htaccess ;)
