Installation Quirks

The perms for the "inc" folder show up as needing to be reversed at the end of the installation process - though it is set to 755. The warning will not go away & needs to be skipped to complete install.

The modules require different transfer types as they are now. The way I get every module to work - including the quotes - is to upload all modules in "auto" (Filezilla). I then install what I can. When I get to the modules that are throwing errors, I delete them and re-upload them in binary mode (as posted earlier in the forums).

All modules work once this is done - but it is a major pain.

I'm on a Linux server (shared)

Same here, though I couldnt get the Polls and Profile Map modules to work after uploading as binary, even after updating the files with Trunk files. Did you do anything different for these two modules?

If you would do a full Binary upload the first time, you would be able to avoid deleting and reuploading in Binary.  Wow!  Think about how much easier it would be to do it the way everyone has been saying as far back as Clinton's been philandering.

Still doesnt explain why polls/profile maps wont work even after you upload as binary though.

Please note the version your using:

Dolphin 7 Hookie Beta, that one little word says so much.  In other words, not everything is finished and working yet.  Again, more newbiew acting like pros with a software they don't understand yet.

Actually, even though I accept your noob accreditation with nods and thanks, since I only dabbled in D6 and now the D7 beta, this is what actually happens when you put out a beta for testing. People will actually talk about their findings and problems. That being said, the OP here was just listing an existing permission problem, and also just helping other out that may have problems with the beta upload.....and in regards to my posting, I was looking for the reason, if any, that two of my modules dont seem to work after uploading as binary, as opposed to the OP's that did in fact work.

I totally get that this is a beta, and will have tons of problems because of that. I also get that some people find it annoying that certain errors will be stated and restated because people didnt search, or maybe tried what was originally listed as a solution, and are still having the problem. What continues to amaze me (not exclusive to this board), are the so called "experts" (regardless if they actually are or not), that troll the boards just to reply a zillion times: "Noob here.....cant believe they posted this question/error/observation".

Sry, didnt mean to rant...but Im at work, and bored....and fiddling with D7 BETA :)

I DID try uploading everything in binary mydatery.  The quotes mod wouldn't work. The only way I could get everything to work was by doing what I described above. But thanks for the witty chastising.

Seriously, what's with all of the attitude? Did someone take a leak in your Wheaties this morning?

Take your "newb" statements & your condescending attitude to someone Else's threads.

If you're so experienced, where are all your bug reports? I've reported 9 so far. I just checked and you, with all of your brilliance, have reported zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Nothing.

You *may* have reported bugs straight to Trac, but I doubt that is the case either. If you did report them straight to Trac you aren't helping the rest of the community anyways because few in the forums would know or remember that you did.

No, instead you have chosen to spend your time insulting others and making asinine statements on completely unrelated subjects - thinking you're clever. Clinton? Are you sure your name isn't Rush?

Get with the program. The problem isn't with "newbs", the problem is with you. From now on when you see any posts by "theguypc" - pretend they don't exist. I don't really care to read anything that you have to say.

Your profile says you're here to help other site owners wherever you can. So you insult them. Brilliant! Brilliant I say! That will help alright. Help chase them off.

If this kind of crap is allowed nobody is going to be reporting bugs. If that happens, D7 is going to take even longer to get out of Beta.
