Install failed again

I am really getting sick of this.   I got almost to the end of the install without incident this time,  then at the permissions reversal for the "inc" folder I clicked "check" to make sure I set it correctly and got this:

-

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '../inc/classes/BxDolIO.php' (include_path='.:.:.:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/vhosts/calstartup.com/httpdocs/install/index.php on line 449

-

Now nothing else works.  It seems that all that is left on the install script was "modules" but I don't know what happens there.  I tried to rename the install directory and go the root but I get a message "It seems to be script is not installed.".   This is my fourth failed beta install - I am getting very frustrated.   Does anyone have any idea if this installation can be salvaged?

What does line 449 say?

OK, never mind.  What happened was this.  When I got to the reverse permissions file for the inc folder, I wanted to make sure I did it correctly so went to the advanced install instructions, since the install screen no longer shows the exact chmod.   I mis-read this and set the permissions for that folder to 644 - when it should have been 755.  My mistake, but I do wish the install still showed the exact chmod settings like it used to.

Come on Rob, you know Folders are 755 & Files are 644.  That is pretty much standard on D6 and doesn't seem to have changed on D7 either.

Just busting your chops here... :))Cool

EXCUSE ME!  If it is important for you to bump up a post I had closed to give my mistake maximum visibility, them maybe you should at least make sure it isn't something you have raised yourself :

I did experience this too. I used a script to change permissions back and forth....the new script seems to do this itself.

I had all the wrong permissions everywhere...had to reinstall.
