Install - Permissions problem

Started the install, followed the list for permission changes until all were valid (green).  Clicked next and I get a warning in a red box as follows:

Next files have inappropriate permissions:
   ray/modules/shoutbox/xml/config.xml;
   ray/modules/shoutbox/xml/langs.xml;
   ray/modules/shoutbox/xml/main.xml;
   ray/modules/shoutbox/xml/skins.xml;

The permissions for these have been set to 666.

I also noticed that subsequent to the red box message the files listed no longer appear on the list, they have disappeared into the red box.

Anyone got a work around for this one. I tried various permissions and nothing seems to change this message.

I would love to know how to change a file from writable to unwritable in CHMOD, as well. I access my SSH and it has script for a key and nothing about changing files.

Someone? Anyone? Please help us out.

Thanks,

644 is not writeble  666 and 777 are world writeble.

Use the free ftp proggie Filezilla for this.
