IS THIS POSSIBLE ... with a licensed dolphin

I want to completely redesign and restructure the layout of our dolphin. We have two licensed dolphin versions, one of which is being used, the other one not being used yet ... planning to replace the current dolphin with the other one. Part of the reason being that our language files are too screwed up in our first dolphin installation (we didn't screw them up), and support for my language questions has been next to nill ... still have questions without answers since about 2 weeks now. That's not any kind of useable support at all.

.

So, in order to help myself and take charge, I'd like to install dolphin 6.1.6 as a clean install on a new subdomain. This will be strictly for translating & styling purposes, with one or two test users. Once that version gets upgraded to dolphin 7.0 I'd like to go ahead and move the new version 7 over to the other subdomain where we're running version 6.1.4 right now. The server remains the same ... the TLD domain remains the same as well ... just the subdomain and the DB user will change since I'm assuming that I can't reuse the old 6.1.4 DB for version 7.

.

Can anyone advise me on how to do this, how to make the move from one subdomain to another? Is there a tutorial for this perhaps? I'm not a server admin so any answers need to be understandable for plain ol' folks. We do have a great german server admin, but I'd have to translate most of the stuff that anyone tells me here. I'd really appreciate some answers that I can work with. Thanks in advance.
