IP Tracker

Trying to remember...is there a way to track an IP of an individual user on Dolphin? I want to block an IP of a member that has spammed on one of our sites.

Thanks

Not sure about the ip tracking of this mod as I haven't tried it. Msott had some cool ip mods at expertz for 6.0/6.1 which allows you to see all your members ip's in your admin panel. Works great. Once you know them just block them with .htaccess or firewall if you have vps, dedicated, or similar setup.

Only problem with anything is if you got yourself a persistent spammer on your hands even if you block their ip they can come right back with a different ip. There are a number of online sites that will hide your ip, or use another ip to hide their tails basically. So if they really want to be jerks they really can, over and over again.

Sometimes it's best just to ignore them, depending on the situation. If you acknolege them or tell them you are going to do this or that, it can really piss some of them off and create a bigger problem with spam. Sometimes they take it as I'll show you type of thing.

You never know though. Each situation is different. Maybe you will get lucky with just blocking the ip. Sometimes you have to keep blocking the different ip's they are using or a range until they get tired and move along. Oh the joys of web site administration hey!

Good luck with it!

I didn't leave it installed long enough! There was too many wierd pieces of code that I never saw in a php file. I deleted my whole site and data base and restored from back up to be safe. mydatery said it was fine, but my gut said no way. I also changed all my passwords for ftp and admin. Jeez I'm paranoid! lol I'll buy the mod where you got yours where ever it is. (P.S. Nothing against the guy that created that free mod, but I'm still new to website and still very paranoid)
