I made a chat investment

I just spent 49 bucks on cometchat. I really like it actually. I thinks it adds a little class to the site. Works great and installs in just a few minutes, painless.

I installed the unbranded version on my site.  The only thing I have not worked out is how to have cometchat at the bottom of the screen along with comechat.  I made cometchat narrower so that it is sort of sitting in the middle but it is not how I want it.  It would be nice if they integrated cometchat into Dolphin's member menu bar.

Geeks, making the world a better place

There was a Cometchat integration on the market back for 7.0.9 from micliz (but he seems to no longer active on Boonex), I will see what I can find.

Here are some features:
- Cometchat added to member menu
- Chat now link on profile pages
- Friends lists synced, even when adding and deleting friends from dolphin
- Admin membership levels control what levels can use cometchat
- if your membership doesn't allow cometchat a message comes up saying to upgrade or login in place of the chat setting window
- cometchat only shows to logged in users
- cometchat photo pulls the users default photo or the default avatars if they don't have one
- cometchat photos llink to users profile page

I just use the Cometchat lite version instead of cometchat menubar - it works excelent (also on mobile device) and does not affect the Boonex menu bar

Using Lite Version

Login to Administration Panel
1.Point your browser to your CometChat Admin Panel
2.Login and visit the settings page

Activation
The lite version of CometChat can be activated by setting the Switch on light-weight chat? to Yes and clicking on the Update Settings button at the bottom of the page.

Advantages
1.Light weight means faster loading times
2.Facebook-like chat
3.Unobtrusive and minimalistic

 Disadvantages
1.Does not allow use of Modules directly on the bar (they can be embedded in your page)

The Cometchat integration is no longer supported by micliz.

What I do not like about CometChat, to get the latest version and support you have to pay every year, whilst it is 50% of the original cost to renew (for like CometChat Professional it is $64 dollars a year).

F-Chat http://www.boonex.com/m/f-chat by AndrewP is worth looking at, It is like CometChat Lite, Facebook style, integrates into Boonex messenger (if installed) and its In a floating panel, it works good. (check his test site).

Simple Chat http://www.boonex.com/m/simple-chat by AntonLV is worth looking at also, The main goal of this way is simplicity and is included in menu bar, it seems to work well also. (check his test site).

there was a post a while ago where Andrew Boon got involved (after lots of moaning about chat by myself and others!) - asking people what they wanted in a 'chat upgrade' type module of some sort... not sure if it was something being worked on for 7.1 or for a future release of Dolphin... not seen anything further from Andrew about it since the post. Kinda ended with people getting enthusiastic at Andrew responding to a post, then it just drifted off into the forum horizon...

Maybe message Andrew, see if there is a new D chat coming anytime soon before paying out for any other chat?

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
