It's is currently unstable so i do not know how long i will be here. Getting as much done as i can before i loose it again.

Fed up. I ordered cable even tho i can't afford it. Install is tomorrow. So i should be back at it full time tomorrow night.

My internet connection will just stop; no problems seem to be.  I am thinking it might be related to DNS and I think I will switch off of DNS Advantage and use OpenDNS.  Sometimes I reboot everything, modem, router, the works and get back OK.

You can look at Earthlink and see if they are in your area.  You can get a 15 meg down for $29.95 for six months; or at least in my area.  I switched to them, comes in through the local cable company, and the service has been OK since the network is the same as anyone on the local cable internet.  My issue may be the old modem; it is not DOCIS 3, or the DNS service I am using.

Geeks, making the world a better place

My ultimate back up is my trusty samsung galaxy phone. If power goes out, Tether my battery powered laptop to my battery backed up phone. Slow I know but better than nothing, being the only house on block with flickering lights!
