How to extend classsfieds life span

I've changed the classifieds section on my site to a downloads section for my templates, how do I increase the life span options for the advertisements?

I'd like the advertisements to be endless, but if I have to use a number how could it be increased to something like 1000 days?

As to increasing the life span of the classifieds I do not know what the upper limit is but I have put 180 days in in admin and had no problems.  However, I am extremely interested in how you added the download section to the classifieds.  I have been working on a simliar project to no great avail yet.

Admin > Settings > Advanced Settings > How long can Classifieds live (days) = xxx days  .....

If say I did set the live days to 30 then after a few weeks changed it to 60, my question is,willl the ads posted prior to the new setting (60) retain their 30 days of existence or will they adapt the 60 meaning the new setting affects only the ads posted after the new setting?

or again they will have a 90 days existence (thats adding 30 and 60) like whats hapening in the members status which adds the number of day you entered instead of resetting it.

Hello Tallyplayer, thank you, I was in the right place to start with but when I clicked save it kept saying watermark saved and the life span was not saved, cleared browser cache and by jingo it saved, thank you for your help though.

I haven't done anything clever with the classifieds, I simply deleted all existing classified categories and created my own category with 2 seperate sub-categories. In member types I created a new membertype and granted full site access as full member plus rights to add classifieds. I removed the right to add classifieds from standard full members. Then I made myself the sole member of the new membertype, I then post straight forward ad without any prices and include external html link to the file download in the topic itself. My templates are open access to all so I have no concerns with access rights to downloads and there are no fees to complicate matters.

My cheat method wont serve as a download function in the strict sense, I have merely altered the language and access rights to suit my simple needs.

Thanks for your input too RumpyBumpy, much appreciated, if I had thought to refresh my cache in the first place I wouldn't have needed to trouble anyone, sorry about that. You know how it is, you spend hours on end trying to get more site related stuff set up and the old brainpan goes to sleep.

Sorry alphaomega168, I don't know the answer to your question, interesting question though, does anyone know?
