How to change a domain from one server to another

How to change a domain from one server to another server?

Dear Friends.

I've looked through hundreds of forums but I can not find a way to do it. I apologize if the answer was already in another thread for not seeing it.

I need to know how to do the migration from one hosting server to another hosting server.

Summary

  • I have version 7.3.3
  • The 2 servers are dedicated and with cPanel
  • The domain name will not change (it's the same)

Thank you very much and best regards

So it's a move of the site from one server to another? Your host may offer this service, so I recommend asking them. If both servers run cPanel, you should be able to run a cPanel transfer, which will make the move pretty much automatic.

Basically, to move the site, you'd need to transfer the site files and database, and then update the header.inc.php file with the new path and database details (if changed). However, in this case, I would recommend using the cPanel transfer under WHM => Transfer Tool. It will move over the entire cPanel account and keep everything (settings, email accounts, paths, databases, etc.) intact. Just enter the old server's IP address and root password, select the account to transfer, and that's all. Then, simply update the DNS for the domain to point to the new server.
