How easy is it to host Dolphin?

It happened again yesterday -- a major Internet link between Australia and the rest of the world failed, making overseas-hosted sites inaccessible. This one seemed minor; we've had far more serious incidents like this before. Hosting is increasingly becoming a front-of-mind issue.

Hosting here is soooooooooo much more expensive than in the US (it's the bandwidth).  But, unless it's just a hobby site that's involved, I'm not sure there's any option other than to host my sites here, in Ozland.

So, finally, the question(s) for you, guys, if you can help: how difficult is it to host Dolphin on (my) own VPS or dedicated server?  Does it require deep Dolphin knowledge/expertise, or is it really more about knowing enough of PHP and MySQL.

And how about RMS hosting?  Is that a complex set up?  Again, will it require deep knowledge/expertise on  .... something?

Enlighten me ...  :)

Dolphin w/RMS requires Apache / PHP / MySQL / JRE /

Depending on how comfortable you are on the command line (shell).?!.

Dolphin and RMS are just a matter of following the configuration instructions located in TRAC.

You will be required to do Browser Config and Shell Config to get everything to function properly.

ProperTools: FTP(FileZilla), Shell(Putty), Browser(IE8,Firefox,Safari,Chrome)

Download: Dolphin6.1.5 and RMS3.5.2

Don't Forget to license it.?! > UNITY HOME > My Licenses

As for hosting. Go to a FARM not a Reseller. Dedicated is best! (My opinion)

Take your time. 1 process at a time, test, if okay, move on to the next. If you get stuck 'search' the UNITY forum for answers as they are ALL here, I promise you that!!!!

MAKE SURE: Your server is config properly with PHP functions, most mistakes and errors are caused by PHP Configuration. Especially hosting through a reseller.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't forget the TEA!
