How do I keep an applicant from becoming a member till approved?

How do I keep an applicant from becoming a member (on any level)  till approved?

Right now, when an applicant applies for a membership to our site, they automaticly become a "Standard" member awaiting approval. Because they are a standard member, they can see member only content on the main page, content tat the general public should not be able to see.

How to i keep them at a "guest" level till approved? and if not a guest level, just no access at all till approved?

Any help out there on this topic?

Go to admin panel, settings, moderation settings and uncheck the top box and the bottom box, click save.

 Even with those settings they will still be able to see his "members only" content. MEL Anton has a free mod that will let you do what you're looking for:
