We have Dolphin set up on our root directory and we would like to move it to a sub directory... How difficult is this?
Does anyone in the forums offer this service for a reasonable price?

It is easy, and you can do it yourself but I would be glad to help. It depends on the tools you have for moving the files, if you have access to ssh, you can use linux commands; if you are on a linux server, to move the directory to a sub directory from your web root. Now are you thinking of having several sites from the web root? You have to adjust your Apache or Nginx or what server, to use the new location for the domain. You can do it manually; takes more time, by downloading, then zipping up the site then uploading to the new sub directory and extracting. You have to adjust the paths in the include.php file when you move the site. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Very easy. Move all files into the new directory (this can be done via FTP/SFTP or your control panel's file manager) and then edit /inc/header.inc.php to update the URL and directory path values. Then clear Dolphin's cache by emptying the /cache/, /cache_public/, and /tmp/ directories - EXCEPT for the .htaccess files.
Bingo, Dolphin moved.
Edit: You may want to setup a redirect to the new URL as well. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
As Nathan said, then all you have to do is to adjust your host configuration; if you have cPanel, this can be done there, or in webmin, etc. so that the document root for the domain is not the old html root. Geeks, making the world a better place |
What would you charge me to do this? I basically want to move it from the root directory to a sub-directory. It is easy, and you can do it yourself but I would be glad to help.
