Hey Guys, just a quick note for the newbies who aren't familiar with Unity and how it works. Those of us who have been around Dolphin for awhile are getting a little bored, specifically with answering the same questions over and over again. It seems that the search function of Unity might not be that user friendly for those who are not familiar with it. Trust me, it works and works great! So here it goes, please follow these instructions and search for a topic before you post a new request, this will help to keep the database of topics manageable for Admin and also alleviate time for those of us who answer questions and allow us to instead focus on the truly new questions that are asked in here. But keep in mind, if you have a question, 1000 people before you have probably already asked it and the answer is in here.
Some of the topics we see regularly are:
1. Cron Jobs (Do you really think noone else has gotten slammed with millions of cron job e-mails? This quest is so redundant that we have had over 10,000 veterans found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after reading these things, Houston was recently found delirous under a dead tree after reading one. Thank God we got to him in time)
2. Can't find members in Search fields, but I don't want to know my members date of birth. Guess what! Dolphin has to know it if you want your members to show up on your site.
3. Delete Comments
4. Promo Field on the home page. The thing doesn't load right and probably never will.
5. Permissions.
6. Oh you other veterans fill in more items, for now we will teach them how to search.
Step 1: Go to http://www.boonex.com/unity/forums/#action=goto&search=1 and click on Forums. You must be on the Forum home page to search and you must be logged in.
Step 2: Please enter the information into the 1st box. Please be specific. If it's a cron job enter cron job. If it's a video upload issue, enter video upload. The more specific you are the better the results you get will be.
Step 3: Set the radio dials to messages. Seraching titles that scream Help is often not very useful, however by searching messages you will find what you want quicker.
Step 4: Look through the search results.
Step 5: If you did not find what you were looking for, please repeat steps 1 through 4 with slightly different search settings, ie change the wording a little bit. If you find a thread that is related then please use the information within it, if you need clarification on something in the thread then bump it by posting to the question and asking for more help. Please be specific though when you bump and tell us what it is that you don't understand. Remember, we are coders, geeks, programmers and nerds here, we are not as cool as you so we may not always write as clear as you think. But if you ask clearly we will do our best to answer in as clear and concise technical instructions as is possibly, preferably in a language you do not speak. Just kidding on that last part!!
So, did I miss anything guys?
