How Groups Should Work

As it has been pointed out countless times by many on the forums; Dolphin groups sucks, they suck worst than a 20 year old hover that has wheels that won't turn.

The way groups should work is that they are a special kind of member profile.  That profile will work just like all the other profiles and will have the standard features, photo albums, sounds, profile comments, etc. except that group/profile members can access that profile and add content as set by the profile owner.  None of this crap we have with current groups.

I like the idea of facebook like pages with a timeline in place of groups.  I think keeping the forum would be a nice feature for fans to interact.

Pages are like a profile to promote a brand or for others to show support (fan) something like a band etc

Groups are for small group communication and for people to share their common interests and express their opinion.

Yeah I hear you.  People seem to like them though.  I don't mind groups either.  I just think it would just be cool to combine them sort of

I totally agree! both pages and groups can be used and looked at in totally different ways within the same website! Depends how they are utilized  and pushed across to the user ...

I like groups, (or pages). If you set them up right, they act as mini networks within a larger network....

allows all sorts of ways to use them.

For me, moving this within a profile would not work as well.

You can add a timeline though to groups, search market...

This is the last straw I will allow anyone from dolphin mess with any of my websites. I paid Daniel Marseille http://www.boonex.com/danielmarseille to put a youtube script on my website. I told him that I did not use ftp and that was for good reason. This guy trys to create a ftp account and deletes my dang website!! This site really has some bad people on here.

I got refunded my money but this is just bad business. I know this one message probably wont affect nothing but im just really disappointed with 99% of the people who I have worked with from here.

I would not let this dude work one your site if I was you. This is a warning. Believe it or not.

I would get away from groups (every social community that is going nowhere fast and the few that have succeeded all have them). I would replace then with "Communities".

Is it only me or does it make sence that a social orientated network that you eventualy want to contain millions of members should consist of a collection of much larger "Communities" ? For a start the word is much more personal. It makes a member feel a part of something.

I would then add ALL that is nessecary to allow the community to grow, diversify and become unique in the most organic way possible. Give them walls that can be customised, ways to fund themselves, ways to write and share news and events and vouchers and absolutely everything else they want. Maybe even set it so each community admin has a choice of which modules to install and use within their community.

I appreciate that there is a module for communities, but it does not go far enough towards true communities.... Anyone that comes up with a through solution would be onto a winner IMHO.

Just my two cents.....
