Hosting

Hello, Just a swift question at the end.

I recently tried a Boonex recommend hosting solution and they managed to almost destroy my business overnight. They are supposed to know what they are doing with Dolphin and are highly recommended on this site.

It was not until I threatened to sue them that I got even a remotely sensible response.

I don't even use the site in question except for testing which I was demonstrating to a client. Naturally the client in question did not do business with me as all I could show them was a suspended account.

Investigating the issue myself it came down to sql usage. I do not even use the site yet, It is purely the standard program doing what it is set up to do.

Has anyone else experienced difficulties like this? and is there actually a hosting company yet that truly understands how Dolphin works?

Regards,

Justin F

Mate, I've also experienced a really poor service from the boonex recommended host but im stuck with them for the time being.

however if youre saying the site doesnt function on it i may have to jump ship asap.

theyve already set me back 2-3 weeks getting my site online so i would also be interested in a genuinely good competant host if anyone knows one?!

As far as i am concern, there is no good hosting anymore. people come out with names and things they are not capable of doing. there re new sites launched and few experience hosting to handle them.

justinferber, you might want to mention the name of the hosting company and you will get a better response. i have experienced what you said right now but i need to be sure of the hosting company before i lick my mouth open. it sucks and annoying. i get suspension almost everyday even when there are no members online. the most annoying thing is that, i am on vps lol.

so mention the name.

I dont know it all, so sharing is always better.

I will have to stand up and disagree with this statement, only because i am a hosting service provider for Dolphin, and have been for 8+ years.

It really depends on what you would consider "a good hosting company" for dolphin though. If you are looking to host dolphin on a $5.00/month account, then you are making your own problems.

I host clients with in excess of 3K  members, one site has nearly 10K members. there are never any performance problems or database error reports or vanishing members from the database. Dolphin is not for the lame at heart, and the meek will not survive. If your pocketbook is light, then your best bet is to turn to wordpress or something that does not require an investment.

Not all hosting services are compatible with dolphin, and that is widely known.

So yes, there are good hosting companies in the terms of hosting. If you are looking for dedicated support in helping you get your dolphin site running, that is outside the general realm of  "hosting".
