Home page, flash intro, change of message

Hi everyone first time on here.

I have installed dolphin 6.1.6 via arvixe and have been working on it for a little while now.  My question is about the flash intro and the 'welcome to the community' wording.  How am I able to modify/change the wording to mine own.  I have looked through the tutorials and forums etc but to no avail despite all attemps.  I have gone into admin, settings, language settings, search for string, and typed in 'community' according to the tutorial...this is how it reads:

'You will notice that when you upload your picture, it has a message that says "Welcome To The Community" going across the page. That is part of the Flash swf file. You can edit it by going to Settings > Language Settings

Go to the Search for strings panel and type in "community". You will see a list of messages you can update or delete. And make sure you compile it. When I first did this, I went to look for the word "Welcome" and it brought up what appeared to be the one to update. I did the update and it didn't reflect on the home page. I later discovered that it was a based on the key "_welcome_and_join".'

I have tried this repeatedly to no avail.

Can anyone please help in this matter?

I am having the same question, I tried update in the language string as well and though I changed the text, it is not showing in the Flash Promo. I would like to get rid of this text in the promo all together.

The Flash Promo, whether it's 6.1 or D7 wording that appears on the images can not be changed by editing the code or language strings.  It's part of the images and the only way to change it is to upload new images and delete the ones that you have. 

Go to Admin -> Settings -> Basic Settings and upload new images to the Promo section and delete out the ones you don't want.

Not to contradict MD,

I cannot validate with D6, but I can say in D7 that changing the 'Welcome to the community" in the language settings is possible. I just tried it on my D7 test site and edited the language string:  _Welcome_to_the_community (System) to say something different and it works.
