Hijacked Cart paypal session?

Not sure if this is Boonex related, or Cart related, or PayPal related.

I'm trying to buy a Dolphin Module, and when I click the PayPal icon I see a wacky *Russian* language and mixed-up page, with someone else's email address at the top left. What is going on here? Whatever it is, doesn't look very safe! It's clearer to see in the screenshot I've attached.

Cheers.

Why are you posting this, and every other problem you are having in the bug report forum?

What it is, is AndrewP uses that email address to accept Paypal payments.  Since his first language is Russian, it comes as no surprise that the Paypal account he uses to accept payments defaults to the Russian language.  You can either complete the tranaction as-is ......it's not that difficult if you've used paypal before.....  Or you can just change that 'ru' in the url to 'en'.

Houston, you must be a really clever guy to be able to smack new forum users down like that. To answer your tirade, I should say that I'm posting this problem with using this site in the bugs forum, because it seems to me that it's a fairly serious problem and people who have an idea about this site might have seen something like this before and, instead of answering with a smart-ass reply, might be able to offer a serious helpful suggestion. Like Deano promptly did.

I've posted several issues here, because I've had several issues with Dolphin since starting to use it and presumed the bugs forum was the correct place to report what I saw as bugs in the software I was using, be that Dolphin, the Forum, the PayPal interface or what have you. I guess you think otherwise. I note that several of the "other problems" were either fixed as an "official bug" or answered in that Dolphin chooses to not provide that functionality. Pehaps I'm supposed to know all the answers better than you do, before I am permitted to post what I see as a perfectly valid bug report? This could be a very quiet bug forum in a short while, or maybe that's the plan...?

Unreserved thanks go to Deano for *your* helpful suggestions.

Once you log into your paypal account to complete the transaction, Paypal will show the form to you in your language.

Let me explain something to you.  "Dolphin" is that platform Boonex provides us to power social networking sites.  It shouldn't take much 'figgerin' to understand that "Dolphin Bug Reports" would have something to do with problems with that platform, and NOT paypal pages appearing in Russian, or some shopping cart issue on boonex.com.

Let me explain something to you, houstonlively. If I'm using a Shopping cart on a platform, like Boonex, then Boonex, wants to know that the entire process works, as do I, and the process usually goes something like this:

1. I log in.

2. I add something to the cart.

3. I search for "something".

4. I add "something else" to the cart.

5. I navigate elsewhere.

6. I go to the Checkout page.

7. I click the "Pay now" widget.

8. I am led through the entire payment process, whether Visa or PayPal or MickeyMouse, FLAWLESSLY.

9. I am returned to the Boonex site without errors.

Additionally the following apply:

10. My data is secure at all times, and THEREFORE:

 A. I am not charged for YOUR purchases.

 B. You are not charged for MY purchases.

 C. Nowhere in the process does somebody else's email address appear in the place where I am expecting my own.

This is not rocket science, it's a shopping cart.

Thanks for your reply, geek_girl. Just FYI, my language is and always has been English (really)

Ah, now AndrewP is Russian AND that's his email address! Now we're getting to some sort of decent reply/answer to this "bug-in-the-buy-dolphin-module-pay-system-post". That seems a reasonable explanation, although clearly a flawed implementation.

So, should I open a new bug for the "ru" in MY purchase url when my language is English? or will this bug report, right here on this bug report forum, suffice?

Yeah.... go right ahead.  I'm sure Andrey will be amused by the fact you think paypal in Russian is a Dolphin script bug.

Oh, I'm sure he'll be highly amused. In fact I'm sure everyone who uses a supposedly secure online English language transaction system will be "impressed" to see it flip to Russian mid-way through the payment process.

Does Boonex actually pay you to alienate their users or are you entirely self-made?

This is how the paypal system works.  You do need to address paypal with your concerns and not here because it has nothing to do with Boonex; this is how paypal has implemented their payment system.  Since paypal does not know you until they get your credentials, they go by the invoice sent.  I have purchased from AndrewP and I have seen the Russian invoice but I was aware of why.  I can understand why you may have been concerned.

Hi geek_girl,

I appreciate your helpful reply. Perhaps the url language switching is a PayPal thing. I've certainly never seen it before, and I readily admit that perhaps I over-reacted to the situation when I saw it on my transaction. However, given the sensitivity of doing online financial transactions, I do think something needs to be done about that. Either at the Boonex end, (sending the information), or the PayPal end, (receiving). I'd go so far as to say that Boonex should take it up with PayPal, if it is really their problem, as an area of concern for their users.

Anyway, given that we've probably isolated the cause, and notwithstanding the little-strop higher in this thread, perhaps it's worth an admin modifying the subject line of this thread. I could see that it might be misleading publicity for Boonex. Just saying, if someone wants to modify the subject line, that's fine with me (I am unable to), perhaps to just add (solved) on the end?
