Well, I don't think it's a big problem: you can simply use less than 50 characters, if you are tired of longer titles :)

Well Mr. expert,  it is a big problem because I often can't use sufficiently descriptive titles, and if I can't, no one else can either.  That has a direct impact on forum searches, and search engine stuff.  People have big wide screens these days... longer titles will fit.

Titles shouldn't be 'descriptive'. That's the purpose of the post itself. Here's an idea. Think of the words someone would search looking for your specific content and use THAT as your title.

"My Camaro ran out of gas and I don't know what to do!" is a stupid title. It's better to use "Camaro Needs Gas to run"

I hate trying to search through a bunch of post titles that read like books. You of all people should know better. I think a 20 character limit would serve the site better.....

anyway HL, it's pretty easy to give descriptive titles with just a few words!

Thank you for this excellent example that illustrates my point perfectly.  The stupid title, "My Camaro ran out of gas and I don't know what to do!", conveys exactly what the post is about.  In this case, it's about someone that is too stupid to stop at a gas station before their Camaro runs out of gas.  Now he'll probably have to call one of those wrecker driver bastards to bring him some gas at $12 a gallon plus a $80 delivery fee.  It also raises the possibility that someone bought the Camaro for them, as they are likely too stupid to hold a job.

  On the other hand, the better title, "Camaro Needs Gas to run", doesn't really give you much to go on, other than internal combustion engines require a petroleum distillate to operate.... people already know that, and will probably just ignore the thread.  That stupid title would get a lot more activity from people dropping in to point out how stupid the guy is.

hold on.. wrecker drivers will bring you gas?.. and charge you a like a huge delivery fee? you are kidding me?

I mean I never thought about using a wrecker driver to get gas if I have ran out, but them carrying a few gallons does make sense, but you would think it would be a fair price,, like 5 bucks a gallon and say 20 bucks for the service or something.

Myself will refuse to use any wrecker service for any reason what so ever!.. since one of the douche bags towed  my ex-wifes Kia one day cause I stopped her car in front of the apartment and got out while it was was running so I could talk to the apartment manager that was leaving.. not even a long convo, more like "can you please send the maintenance man by this weekend, the kitchen sink has all but stopped!" ..  wanted to catch her before she left for the weekend. turn around and one of them Vulchers had done latched on, I was standing RIGHT THERE!!..  I was like "Hey!!.. PUT THAT DOWN, IM STANDING RIGHT HERE, IT IS RUNNING,, SHE IS THE DAMN MANAGER OF THE PLACE FOR GOD SAKE!" ... like literally 45 seconds and he was off down the road,, then he stopped to close the door and then turn the car off.. THAT IS AUTO THEFT IN MY BOOKS!... moral is, never use a wrecker,, and never rent an apartment on Bellaire street here in Houston!

if you are going to run out of gas - the best place to do so is on the freeway. Then highway patrol will give you 5 gallons for free.

LOL ... not here in the UK !! Unless you have boobs and nice ass there is no chance of any police officer stopping to give you assistance let alone 5 gallons of petrol!

 Hey, when you guys are done toying around with that silly little forum module, yall should work on something really cool.... like a GPX file parsing module that displays routes on a google map, and graphs elevation and speed at all points on the track.  Graphs of all other sensor data in the GPX file would be fun too look at too... for instance, 'Bike Power', "Stride', 'Heart Rate". 

Just imagine how much fun it would be working on something like this.
