Help with header.php please

I am getting error   cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/rangers/public_html/index.php:9) in /home/rangers/public_html/inc/header.inc.php on line 124

anyone have any ideas how to fix this issue?.. even if the fix is just a bandaid ,, damn error logs are filling up my drive every few days

That is normally caused by extra white space at the end of the file after the closing ?> php tag.

Check both files mentioned. index.php and header.inc.php

Remove all characters after the closing ?> tag at the end of the file. Including spaces and empty lines.
