Hi all,
I upgraded from 7.3.3 to 7.3.4 and everything seems to have gone okay and the site works fine except:
When i go to view specific files such as a blog post, view an article, a video, a photo, etc., i get the "HTTP ERROR 500".
I followed all the upgrade steps as required.
Any help will be appreciated.
Regards.

My guess is that it is this error. https://www.boonex.com/forums/topic/FacebookLocales-xml.htm
Does it do it on any blog post etc that is marked just for members?
I helped someone just recently that experience the Facebook bug and was on 7.3.4. I suggested he re-up the Dolphin files as something had went wrong and that fixed it for him.

Thanks geek_girl.
I applied the fix and everything has been resolved. Thanks for your quick reply.

Second time I have seen this and it does not make any sense. The fix was applied to the 7.3.3 release so why are some seeing this after they upgrade to 7.3.4? Apparently it is in the code base for 7.3.4 or uploading the files again would not fix the issue. Geeks, making the world a better place |
I would not be surprised to hear that many people have this problem even without knowing it is there. The site works fine but you will only notice it if or when you try to fetch the content.
And the funny thing is, i didn't have this problem at all when i was in 7.3.3 version. But if the issue was in 7.3.3, they should have included the fix in the 7.3.4.

Thank you for noticing this, we've missed changes from 7.3.3 to 7.3.3.1 in this patch.
We've just updated the patch and made a notice about this on upgrade instructions page:

If upgrading from 7.3.3 do we have to do both 7.3.4 and 7.3.4.1 or go straight to 7.3.4.1?

Hi TravelNotes.
There is no 7.3.4.1 version. So you just upgrade from 7.3.3 to 7.3.4 --------- BUT after the upgrade you will need to observe the NOTE on step 6 of the upgrade documentation manual.
In other words you have to apply the fixes manually. See the note below.
NOTE: First version of this patch didn't include changes from 7.3.3 to 7.3.3.1 version. Manual instructions for these changes are fixes for missing facebooklocales.xml and map isn't displayed when user is loggedin.
Don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it.

Kinuthia.

There is now a 7.3.4.1 because it has been added to the old 7.3.4 page.
https://www.boonex.com/trac/dolphin/wiki/7.3.3-7.3.4
I already have 7.3.4 downloaded but not installed, while I wait for all mods to catch up, which is always a pain with Dolphin upgrades.
Then there's always something that breaks.
I also already patched to 7.3.3.1
If I was starting again, I would not invest in Dolphin. It's way too clunky to upgrade cleanly.

I get you now. The 7.3.4.1 patch includes the two fixes so it is just the 7.3.4 with the fixes included already. This means that if you are on 7.3.3 you would just go straight to 7.3.4.1 which takes care of everything. However for those like me who had already moved from 7.3.3 to 7.3.4 - the manual fix has to be applied.
AlexT told me about the update of the patch to include the fixes. I, however don't see this as a 7.3.4.1 version.
So my opinion is simply for you to go from 7.3.3 to the 7.3.4.1 patch.
With regard to the dolphin as a whole, i can understand your pain. I have lost a few mods due to non-compatibility with newer dolphin versions until the time i decided not to buy more but wait for a more matured dolphin. Having said that i like dolphin and i think they made a big mistake of trying to incorperate the whole world into a one platform at the very beginning. Future features addons would probably have made more sense. But you got to admire the huge amount of work they have undertaken.

Don't get me wrong, I like Dolphin; just not the some of the compatibly issues that occur with third-party modules when trying to upgrade the core.
If module developers drop their projects, it's like trying to drive a car with new tyres that don't fit the wheels; or putting petrol in a diesel engine.

UNA has a backend upgrade of the platform through the studio. That may some day be ported to Dolphin. I don't like the way Boonex does some of this; instead of a 7.3.4.1, they should just have fixed the current 7.3.4 zip and upgrade and called it good. They just try to confuse members with all of this. Geeks, making the world a better place |
