Groups But No Way To Create Topics

I have a fresh install of ORCA. I am able to CREATE Groups with no problem. When I click on the group I created, I see a quick "loading groups" but nothing else happens. I can't actually open a group to create a topic or postings.

There are no error messages of any kind.

Anyone have any ideas on this??

Thanks very much!

I haven't made any progress either.

I am surprised that no one here has any idea on this issue. Weird.

Also, the Dolphin people are charging an arm and a leg for "licenses" for supposedly open source software but yet they provide no support. Very suspicious.

Today it's the 7th of March 2009!

I have still not found any solution for this problem!

Does anybody know something about it?

I would be very appreciated to hear some answers!

regards, Frank

im sure this cant be what you mean, but i'll give it a go anyway. When you create your group, then click on the group link, you will see the group, any picture you have placed to represent that group, then underneath there is a menu.

.

Invite

.

upload images

.

post topic

.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the group page, you will see this is where the group forum is, its separate from your site forum, so you wont see it in there. The group forum justs sits on this page at the bottom underneath the group picture and this menu

.

just click on the post topic and away you go.

Thank's for your reply, but it stilldoesn't work:

It doesn't matter on which button you click:

Create new topic or open new topic

--> page not found!

This is a point causes huge problems on our site.

Other solutions for this general bug? Or is it even a bug?

It seems to be a major problem that affects all of the dolphin users.

Okay, I just tested this out and it does in fact work.  I don't use groups on mysite so I ran the test on another site that is currently in build phase, and it did work.  Here's the image of what you should see:

And here's the final shot:

^^That is with Groups working.  I think you get the idea though, that groups does work.  Have you created a group and then clicked on the groups title or thumbnail in order to get to the post topic page?

Have you got the latest download updates for dolphin and the ray suite,orca... thats what i use, and ive never had a problem with it at all in this respect, in fact its one of the things that seem to work without having to fiddle with it, or at least i havent felt the need to (which is a first).

I dont really think this is a bug, although i cant tell you what is causing you this problem, i seem certain it isnt to do with the latest updated download version, but if you are using an older version, then it could be that.

I tested itwith the procedure below:

1. I joined a group and clicked on a) the thumbnail and b) the group title

2. Then the group-page opened

3. I clicked on a)open new topic and b) create new topic

Each button leads to "page not found".

Do you have an explanation for that case?

Or does anybody has one?

I would be very grateful to hear from you.

Get that down.  Do not post your php.ini settings without first editing them for security purposes.  You have just fully compromised your entire server by posting that in a public space!  GET IT DOWN NOW!

done. thank you very much. one moment and i will put the edited one in it's place.

Please post some screenshots so we could see.By the way posting your php.ini settings doesnt really compromise security  threats .

Install the Above mod on your site and then you'll be able to give us a cleaner copy of your php info.  It's free and works well.

Also, who is hosting this site?  The host settings sometimes have an effect on groups & orca.

Quote · 11 Mar 2009

The site is hosted with Bluehost.com.

I can get you the version numbers for there servers / php info etc if thats helpful?

I would gladly do a screenshot, but i am using a micro laptop, 600 x 480 screen, so not much use.

The notepad file is laid out exactly the same as the page online, all the info is in the same groups etc.

If anyone can help or even give me an idea, i am very stuck and need to get this site going soon.

Thank you again

All the needed php compilations are installed, so thats not the problem. For me you can remove this txt file from your post. :)

The only thing I can think now is there must somewhere a permission wrong, because is not on the server settings. Some has a another idea?

I had the same problem - it is because creating the forum is a two-step procedure.

1) First, create a folder in the Orca management page, forum, calling it "Forum" or whatever.

2) Then, click on the middle button to add a subdirectory. THIS WILL CREATE THE FORUM YOU CAN ADD THREADS AND TOPICS TO.

It worked for me.

That allows you to create forums, but it does not allow you to post new topics or view tops in a group that has been created. I dont know why this is such a big problem for alot of people but no one has a solution for it. Those that have it working are not sure why it works, some are not using orca at all and those that solve the problem are gone from the forum never to return.

I looked for the .htaccess file in the download (6.1.6) and there is NO .htaccess file in the installation file.
