Photos which are used in groups are stored in photos module and can be used somewhere else. So they can not be deleted to not broke consistency. That makes no sense, since they are for use specifically within that group. If the group ceases to exist, any media uploaded by said group should also cease to exist, including files. There's no loss of consistency if what was depending on the file is no more. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
AlexT, can you give us an example of how you would upload an image to a group then use it somewhere else?
then if it in fact is used somewhere else what if they get tired of using it, can it then at that time be deleted. how is the imageID being redistributed, you cant call the image by name or anything because the images are assigned a number when you upload them. the ImageID is not readily accessible for a member to ascertain what to even use as a path.
or unless something has drastically changed, then i am not sure how this method is suppose to work. can you provide some insight on this and possibly a working example? Photos which are used in groups are stored in photos module and can be used somewhere else. So they can not be deleted to not broke consistency. Try again Alex. That would mean you couldn't delete regular album photos either, because they might be used somewhere else. In previous versions the file uploaded to one group could be selected in another group just with checkbox. So this links can be actual for some sites. Also it maybe situation when user is using photo uploaded from groups somewhere else. Rules → http://www.boonex.com/terms |
This shared photos concept is an abomination Groups photos have to be stored in Groups module, sites thumbnails in Sites module, etc... This is an obviousness Life is a fatal disease, sexually transmissible - Virginity is carcinogenic! Ask here for vaccine. |
The purpose of Groups is to segment that content from everything else. Hence - Group. Or use the wonderful padlocks. That is totally backwards.

In previous versions the file uploaded to one group could be selected in another group just with checkbox. So, your reason for not deleting the files, is based on a bug in a previous version? My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
I to would like a answer to that one. This is VERY annoying to say the least! You possess an intuitive intelligence so powerful it can help you heal, and relieve stress. |
If the photo module will finally be improved, to get rid of the Actions block and having small icons (delete, edit, move...) just under the thumbnails will be more than welcome too Life is a fatal disease, sexually transmissible - Virginity is carcinogenic! Ask here for vaccine. |
Yes, the better way is storing media files in the module independently. It will fix all these problems. We will try to do it in 7.1 Rules → http://www.boonex.com/terms |
