Google is ridiculous

I slightly remember someone mentioning a while back that Google was making anyone with chat on their site remove adsense from those pages... well I just got my warning email. I have 72 hours to remove the ads from the chat pages or be suspended.

I'm guessing it's all automated and Google is crawling looking for anything with the word "chat" on it. I just un-installed the chat module and redirected the link to a 404. No one used it anyway..

I can't help but think this is a STUPID policy..

yup just google "adsense ban rampage chat sites" .. they got my biggest site, no warning or nothing, just suspended my url, so i pulled their ads from the pages that had chat boxes of any kind, submitted an appeal, and was told in short "no".. i have been with adsense for years, they have always been known to just pull accounts for any reason they wish but this time they banned my whole url so im kinda stuck on that site.. i think they are coming out with a chat site of their own so are killing of the competition. They reworded their terms of service a few months back in regards to chat sites.. and kind of forgot to tell anyone till they went on a mass banning spree

I can see many people have tried Google Adsense and failed to please them since the post too !

Yes, I got the same letter on my biggest site, the chat page, top banner.

I scrambled and removed the chat module from all my other sites that have not been suspended.

It's funny, they got one site only, all my other sites still get ads.

New members, make sure NOT to use the "top" banner for adsense if your using the chat page.

Pop up chat boxes do no apply.

I never asked for a review, I guess I will soon.

Does anyone actually make any money with adsense anyway? 

What sort of traffic is needed to make anything worth plastering your site with google ads?

I haven't gotten much response out of real time chat on my site, so I dropped it in order to comply with adsense guidelines.

My adsense income is slowly increasing, in direct correlation with my daily traffic. By no means does it pay the bills, but it helps.

 yes, it does not pay the bills.. but it does pay for this "hobby" ( Dolphin crack)..

 I make around a $100 a month ... last year I was making between $200 and $300 a month before I sold one of my best sites (and upgraded the Dolphin sites from 6.x to 7.x).. those were both STUPID things to do but hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

So how long before they decide that any page a user can post content on is "dynamic content"?? I mean isn't  a page a user can post a comment on the same thing? What controversial thing can I post in chat that I can't post on a "wall" or a shout box?

I wander if theres some way that some chat room scripts are driving artificial traffic to adsense, bloating income so to speek? Seems a little strange that they want to penalise dynamic content pages as Google was pushing these sort of sites as the way they want sites to work for better search results recently!

well i dont know if yall know this, but when i got my ban i did some research and seems google bought out meebo and meebo supply's blendaps chatrooms, and blendaps rooms are very common on all ning sites.. so yes something fishy is in the works here

plus i find it funny big chat sites that are basically pure chat sites like tinychat and mocospace keep serving ads and have not skipped a beat,, even those sites know to have kids in them like omegle and others still have adsense,, i wish i had the money to hire to right people to fight a company a huge as google in court

Quit buying their products. Watch them recoil when they have to explain that to their shareholders.

 Omegle is serving Google ads?? So Google is going to send warning letters to people like me who have ONE chat room on ONE page of my site with ZERO people chatting and claim it's because they can't control the content.... meanwhile Omegle is full of underage kids doing unspeakable things for the world to see. Like the title says, Google is RIDICULOUS.

That's just a reflection of the times we are living in....

I dread the days when we will be denied access to fast foods because we are living in a place which have a kitchen inside...

 it has always been googles dirty little secret that they want no one knowing about, every time there is issues with predators and children,, be it myspace, omegle, stickam, all the big names that always gain the news attention for "unspeakable acts" happening involving children, guess who the ad company was for these sites?.. just like they pulled ustillup.com ad service from jason here a couple months ago due to a few naked pics on his site, yet head over to omegle and get all the live naked streaming you want.. its not about what is on your site as much as it is HOW MUCH YOU MAKE THEM... always has been

and far as other ad companys out there, please let me know when you find one that pays as good as google, cause i been looking for years!

 was told the crack down on chat boxes was cause google bots cant crawl them for adult content, forums, blogs, and anything that has crawl-able texe i believe would be ok .. long as the content is not "adult" of course

Well I've got adsense throughout my site, but NOT in chat. I stripped my chatroom down to nothing but the chat, and a rotating sidebar banner beside it, no navigation bars anywhere in chat.

And YES, there is money in adsense, enough to buy my Harley, (not a dolphin site)

Boohah. Nobody said there was no money in adsense, what I did say is they are getting too big for their britches and we have the power to tighten those britches as long as we don't take the stance you just did.

This is interesting. It looks like they have to do it in order to prevent privacy-related issues and not being able to verify privacy setting of every particular chat setup. I'm sure they'd love to show their ads in messages, chatrooms, etc, if they could do it without fear. 

Anyway, there's one interesting and apparently effective method that Wordpress.com employs - they serve ads to guests (not-logged-in visitors), while members use it ad-free. This may  potentially improve signups and, in turn, conversions of your direct-pay product.

If you think about it a bit more, however, it may open a MASSIVE can of worms - how do you tell the difference between CHAT, IM, WALL or just Blog Posts with custom privacy settings? I could make a post and only allow a few persons to see, which would effectively turn comments thread into a quasy-chatline (especially if I make them update dynamically). Looks like someone didn't think much and just targeted specific sites with half-assed policy that now affects many.

I have my suspicious feeling about my ban, I have the one site banned, but all my others, Dolphin, were not bothered.

I was threatened here by another member that they would report my site. I guess they did, obviously they didn't know the URL of the others..or those would have been banned too as the ads were on the chat page as well.

I had time to remove the ads from chats on those sites after the threat and still have not been banned on the remaining sites. No name calling, it's not me.

I don't see how one site can be pulled when I have four other Dolphin sites still running google ads.

Newton they banned that one site without a warning letter? If so how do they decide who to just warn and who to ban? My email said I had 72 hours to remove the ads from the chat page.

 Mine didn't, the ban was immediate, the warning was for me to change and they would check the site again in three days, I cleaned it up but still no.

I submitted a re check, they said no.

so I have duvallocals.info (banned), and duvallocals.com (not banned) almost duplicate sites... one survived the other didn't. I never mentioned the latter here other than in my notes section.

I suspect to get looked at again soon.

both my gay sites with chat rooms, (no ads) are still approved. I'm clueless on the rules.

Funny thing is, the ban made me find another ad service.

My duvallocals.info is Florida related, so I placed ads for vacation info for Orlando, and the other major attractions here and other ads for Hotels where needed.

I make more now!! lmao at google

Wow, so I guess they were leanient on me. As soon as I got the email I unstailled chat completely and even routed the chat page to a 404 error. I did that because I was worried that if the re-check was automated it would think chat was still there because of the way Dolphin handles pages that aren't found. The ads are still on the site so I guess it satisfied the @#%@$*@!s.
