Getting the chat working - general question

I have installed the free version of this on Linux, locally, and most of the functions work fine.  I then signed up, here, and generated a free license.  I entered the license code and installed the chat module, changing some file permissions as directed.  I used the configuration tool to add my domain, etc.; the domain name was the only thing I changed in the configuration portion.  There was a message, when I did all of this, that said I needed to download the customFunctions.inc.php file to jerk around with some sort of configuration options per the direction contained within that file.  I downloaded that file and there were no directions of any kind and simply a short piece of php code (abbreviated wildly, something like this - function get adminNick, select 'name' from Admin Limit 1..."). At any rate, I get an "unregistered" icon when I click the chat module.  I think I recall seeing something about changing the IP to "rms.boonex" or some such thing...I don't recall where I'd seen that.. The install also refers to "unregistered widgets" which, to me, is utterly meaningless.  What widgets....and how do they become "registered"?

In a nutshell, how in the hell do you get the chat deal working?  Any help would be greatly appreciated....

I had failed to register the chat module, I guess - but now it just says "connecting" forever...  The rms server is set to rms.boonex.com.

Hmmm - chose to not use RMS server and it works...... answering my own questions, here.  Just like my marriage - I talk to myself a lot.

To use the Audio/Video functionalities of Ray Chat you need to be using a RMS server.

BoonEx no longer allow the use of a free RMS server, so the two options are:

- use your own (search in google for tutorial on installing RMS)

- rent an RMS. Gigapros.com are recommended by BoonEx and myself. They're top!

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
