Frozen in Time!?

Hi,

I have two sites (gaywww.com & isexclub.net) both version 6.1.6

Using FETCH (mac) as my FTP program I can make ANY change that I want to make to any file on gaywww.com and the changes result on the webpage but, the changes I make to isexclub.net, show in the actual file, but some of the changes DO NOT result on the website...

I've cleared the cache and reloaded the page, I've rebooted my computer and anything else that I can think of.

For Example: If I add the word "HERE!!!" at the bottom of the /tmpl_uni/_footer.html for both (gaywww.com & isexclub.net) it will appear at the bottom of all pages on gaywww.com BUT NOT on the pages of isexclub.net

Is this a glitch, permissions or gremlin?

Thanks,
Blaine.

Thanks in Advance, Blaine

Hi LeonidS,

No their pretty much the same (except for .CSS changes).

They BOTH used to work fine.... it's just recently anything I save (FTP) to isexclub.net, the fixes/changes appear in the actual file but DO NOT take place on the webpage.

For Example.... in the /tmpl_uni/_footer.html I had added a lot of:

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>... etc.

to push the BOONEX FOOTER way down so it is out of the way and therefore not seen....

but recently I registered the website through the BOONEX SITE (I'm a PRIME MEMBER) eliminating the BOONEX FOOTER.... I then deleted all the:

<p>&nbsp;</p>'s

.... they DO NOT appear in the _footer.html file itself, BUT they still are effecting the bottom of all pages and in the VIEW PAGE SOURCE it shows all the:

<p>&nbsp;</p>'s

It's like it's FROZEN IN TIME!?

Any ideas?

Blaine.

Thanks in Advance, Blaine

I've discovered what was causing my problem!!!

Months ago I changed the folder name "tmpl_uni" to --> "tmpl_uniXXXX" (to keep it as a backup) and UPLOADED a FRESH "tmpl_uni" folder from the DOLPHIN download on my computer, to rework the .css files.

Somehow, somewhere... the system started reading from the "tmpl_uniXXXX" folder, which is why any changes I made in the "tmpl_uni" folder did not take effect.

How I found this out....

I was determined to correct my problem so I started comparing EVERYTHING with another of my DOLPHIN site which did NOT have the problem.... when I saw that I had the "tmpl_uniXXXX" & "baseXXXX" folders on the site that was having problems and not the other I DELETED them..... upon REFRESHING the website, I got an ERROR.... looking at the error and the FILES that it was referring to, I opened the files (unfortunately I can't remember which ones) and found that in the file it said something like =uniXXXX .... as soon as I deleted the "XXXX", EVERTHING was OK and all the changes I made in the "newer" "tmpl_uni" were now taking effect.

Thanks,

Blaine.

tmpl_uni and tmpl_unixxxx are valid template folder names. Thus would cause problems and conflicts.

When renaming template folders to preserve a backup, do it in reverse using a prefix instead of a suffix.

tmpl_uni renamed to old_tmpl_uni.

Doing it that way makes the folder name invalid, thus dolphin will ignore it.

Thanks deano92964

That's good to know.

No matter which website/program I'm working on I usually type several "X"s (no specific quantity) after a file or folder when I testing something.... it just happens that in this case I typed Four (4) "X"s.    ;-)

Thanks for explaining.

Blaine.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
