Free 'Help' Module

Don't get too excited... this help module is just a renamed Boonex Articles module, and it can be  installed concurrently with said module.  A few major help categories will be installed, and you can modify them via admin > Settings > Categories Settings

The only intent of this module is to give site admins a foundation to build upon.  Use this module to convey helpful information to your members.  As with the standard Boonex Articles module, help topics are added by the site admin via administration > Modules > Help > 'Post Help'

If you develop some clear, concise instructions on using any part of a Dolphin site, feel free to post it here in this topic, as it may be useful to others. If your help topic includes images/screen shots, upload them here.

I should add that I've deleted the ru language file that came with the articles module for reasons that should be obvious.  If anyone wants to translate the en file of this module, please feel free to do so and upload it to this topic.  There's only a few dozen language strings to translate, so it's not a lot of work.

Hi Houstonlively

Thanks for this Module.. I've downloaded and gave me an error 'Not compatible with my current version of Dolphin'.

So I went to /modules/boonex/help/install/config.php and edit the Dolphin version...

I've change line 17

'compatible_with' => array(
        '7.2.0'
    ),
to
'compatible_with' => array(
        '7.2.1'
    ),

Installed 100% thereafter and it's working nicely...
Thanks again

I've change line 17

 That should do it.  There haven't been any changes to the core files in the module from which this one was derived... other than the version numbers.

Hi Houstonlively

Thanks for this - I have found it really useful in explaining to users how to use
different areas of my site.

I have a question though
It seems the 'Help' topics are sorted by the date added because it is based on the 'Articles' mod.
Is there a way the sort order can be from A-Z ?

Many thanks

Is there a way the sort order can be from A-Z ?

 The quick answer is yes.  The long answer is, it's not a simple as it might sound.  This module and a handful of others, use service methods defined outside of the module, and there doesn't seem to be any built in service methods to retrieve entries ordered by something other than 'id'.

So yes there is a way, but I'm afraid I have insufficient motivation to add  the functionality.

 Hi Houstonlively

I really did not expect you to add or change the functionality of your mod
I was hoping maybe you could point me in the right direction  - an easy solution or a cheat maybe?

Anyway I have figured a way to achieve what I wanted by editing the dates of the topics.

Thanks anyway

 I believe I said that there wasn't any of these.
