Forum installed but listed as not installed also

I noticed in the backend on my site that the forum module is listed as not installed when it is installed.  The forum module is working.  I assume that somehow when it was installed it did not get entered into the table as such; not sure how this works.  It is listed under the "installed modules" as well as the "uninstalled modules".  Where can I go in the database to fix this?

I didn't want to just go stumbling around the database hoping I get the right one.

I know the mod developers know this.  Would looking in an uninstall file give a clue?

It's listed in both places????

Then it did get entered then but must not match. When a module is installed it is put in the table sys_modules

But that must match the exact version information as whats in the config file in the modules actual module folder.

So you either have two copies in a different folder name. One installed and one not, or something does not match in sys_modules.

I cannot explain that one. I have never seen it happen, and never noticed any posts by others that have.

And come on. Don't assume we know the answers to things that in theory should not happen.

Smacks head hard.  Thanks Dean, you gave me the answer.  See, when I had the forum problem with the layout not working; using the strange divisions, I decided to copy the forum module from the either the SVN, or 7.1 Final; as a precaution I don't just delete; I renamed the forum module directory; forum.old, in case I needed to recover it.  That fixed my problems with the forum but I never deleted the forum.old from the modules.  This is one of those red-faced Embarassed moments.

No, what I meant was that module developers would know which tables I should investigate; this is a production site; and of course I do backups, since they need to know which tables to update.  Now I know a bit more.  Thanks for your help, it is appreciated.
