Forum:After user delete - user is visible as Admin

Hi,

I have some users whose added some posts in the forum. Some of them deleted their accounts.

I noticed that deleted users are visible as Administrator on the forum...

Try logging in as a regular user and you may just find that these posts that appear to be coming from Admin will appear as the user you have just logged in as too.

So any member that logs in will actually think that someone has hacked their account because these posts left behind after the actual author of the post has had their account removed or deleted, will always have the logged in user's name by the post.

It happens with blog comments too. Not really checked about comments for other modules but I would hazard a guess that it happens there too.

Yes... this is a little buggy.  I believe what boonex intended to happen, is for the various posts ownership be changed to the admin. The last thing you want to do is delete all of the content initiated by the member that deleted their account, because other members may have contributed significant content based on the post of former member.

The original posters name should NOT remain anywhere. The link, or their username, CAN NOT remain the same, because if someone else were to then register under the same username as the one that was deleted, they would become the owner of all this content.. I think.  It would be a big mess.

  1. When a user deletes their account, the user name on forum posts should be set to "Unregistered", and "Unregistered" should NOT be permitted as a real user name.
  2. The link yoursite.com/unregistered should not lead to a profile page, but a page that  explains that the user is no longer a registered member of the site.  The page should also ask members to report any offensive content left behind by this member... etc.
My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.

I totally agree with , this should be the way it works!

Any solution for this mess?

It would be a good thing to have a workaround for this BIIIIIG BUGGY ;)

Otherwise the whole script is in question for any serious project...If you imagine to have a site with more than just a handful of members...

This is a NOOB-BUG ;) BOONEX and should be fixed ASAP

Best eru

No solution yet?

This is becoming highly confusion for members, that can see profile comments by "anonymous" user, showing their pic in the Avatar....they think the pic is being used by someone....
