Force payment to create profile?

Hello all,

I'd like to know, if it's possible to force people to pay a membership fee in order to create a profile. As it is now, people are creating standard profiles - which I have prevented from doing anything at all - and then they almost never upgrade to paying member, they just leave 'cause nothing is accessible.

Could I make a system, which forces people to pay before their profile is created, so I don't have to delete all the unused and unwanted standard profiles manually?

Okay, here's a novel idea to your situation, that just might work while your trying to grow your site:

Turn some features on, but leave the best ones as pay features until the site grows.  This will allow your newer members to wander around, find things they like and start paying.

Moving on, yes you can add a pay feature into the site, just redirect the button at the bottom of the Join Page your payment section.  Now, you will have them at least at that level and when they pay you'll have them at least until they call their credit card company, cancel and then charge you back.

This seems like a good idea, I just have to figure out what's what in join.php to know where to put in the redirect code.
