Flash Player 9 ?

So I did a plain old vanilla install of Dolphin / Orca / Ray.  So far I'm really pleased with everything.

Unfortunately I'm not able to get the shoutbox working.  I did a little research and it seems it might have something to do with my version of Flash (10).  I have seen some posts explaining that I need to roll back to 9.

I have spent a couple days looking over the Adobe site looking for a flash player plugin installer for version 9, but I have had a really tough time.

Can anyone provide some links or instructions on how to rollback the flash player or would it be more advisable to just disable the shoutbox?

Is this the same issue I've been seeing with the music player too?

Some people have experienced problems with flash 10 and then others say they have no problems with it.

this should sort you out as far as rolling back.

Uninstall and roll-back to Flash Player 9 - click on this link (http://www.saobart.com/?p=262)

however,if this does not sort your problem there maybe other issues with your install.

The trick with Flash Player 9 vs. 10 only applies when your referencing the licenses.  Some sites, reason unknown, will uninstall the license when you go to Admin->Plug Ins-> Ray -> and open the individual widgets.  Other sites have no problem what so ever with this issue.  I'm thinking this is an end user problem and not a Dolphin/Server specific as some site owners do have FP 10 installed and never experience this problem, others keep a 2nd system that has 9 on it just for when they need to go into their sites Plug Ins to avoid this issue.

But as far as the Shoutbox goes, as long as the license is in it, then it should work.  It does not depend on your RMS to operate or any other items.

Thanks for the information mydatery, I appreciate it.  I guess because I'm new, I don't follow entirely.

I do have the shoutbox installed, but I can't get it to work.  I tried to rollback to flash 9, but that doesn't seem to have helped either.  Not sure what's going on, but I suppose I'll have to just disable it or something.

You can take a look here:  www.hackettteam.com/ if you want to see my installation for any reason.

Thanks again for the help!

in your php.ini make sure you have

allow_url_fopen = on

Thanks for the suggestion.  I checked and couldn't locate a php.ini file.

I have hosting with HostGator so I contacted support.  Some support technician uploaded a php.ini into my account root.

I checked that file and the php_url_fopen = on was indeed set.

There were some other support threads regarding whether individual account php.ini files were supported by hostgator or not (on shared servers), so I'm not sure.  I'm also not sure if there needs to be any sort of server reset or restart of apache before something like that takes effect.

Either way, as it stands, my shoutbox box never will load.  Just spins and spins and spins and spins .. but never will actually load.

I appreciate the continued suggestions.
