Try different browsers ..... No browser is consistent across the entire installation ..... .

I know this but, I can't tell potential members what browser to use. I saw an actual fix for this here I just can't fnd it now. It's like using _connect instead of using _pconnect for browser speed.

Did you search the forums for pconnect?

Killerhaai- It's good to know that my site looks ok in Opera actually, I didn't think of checking with that because I've only seen 2 people use it.....you and someone from Russia and they were both today. About 30 percent of potential members use Firefox. DO you have Firefox installed? take a look with Firefox.

RumpyBumpy- Yes I did.

Firefox, Firefox, does whatever a Firefox does.

It's a free app, no support, look at my site it doesn't work.

Hey Man! it's the Firefox, man.

Look out! it's the Firefox.

oke have check out also with latest version of Firefox, all blocks are left lined out.  If you look into your admin - builders I guess that on the frontpage you two have colums, with the blocks.
Other pages looks normal.

TIP:
set background in Orca -layout- main .css to the same color as the frontpage.

Usually but not always firefox and internet explorer 7 are similar match. Internet explorer 6 and under is a whole different story. This seems to be phazed out by many developers yet a larger percentage still use this.

Another problem is microsoft ad mozilla don't seem to agree with one another or come to an agreement with their coding or styles and layouts.

Look at one site with ie and another with ff and they may look totally differnt, and poorly coded sites may not display at all in one or the other, as it wasn't universally coded.

I just wish these guys could come up with a better agreement, and integrate it into there browsers.

What do you do.

Yeah, every other page looks fine even in members. I'm going to sort this out today, I hope. Thanx for the tip Killerhaai, I think I will change that. I just thought it looked kind of cool, on the other hand it could probably make people go blind. Also, my page looks like it would be fine in PagesBuilder.

strange, with version of Dolphin you use?
I have two sites one 6.1.2 other 6.1.4 but the are perfect in FireFox, IE7 and Opera. So I don't understand why the blocks at your frontpage are missing...

Hope you find the solution, I wish you luck.

Yeah, I'm using 6.1.4, the only option I have at the moment is to report my own site as broken and hope they give me a fix.

Your site looks pretty cool I like the widgets.

Quote · 21 Aug 2008

thanks Rob,
they are google and widgetbox widgets, you can embed them into a html block easy.

You must have done something to your installation as two different, completely virgin v6.1.4 installs display perfectly in FireFox 3.0, Internet EXploder 7.0.6 and Opera 9.26  .....

Yeah, I don't know what happened but, I reported my site as broken maybe they can send me a fix maybe not. Looks fine in Opera and IE but, when it comes to Firefox.....du

Yeah, I fixed this. One of my blocks had some coding it was interfering with the site layout. It was a simple scrooler.

Rob

Well thanks once again  .....  what is a 'simple scrooler'?

I had a scroller(mispelled) that would show all the important days that were coming up. It wasn't showing correctly in Firefox......I could see all the code and it was part of my ecards block and it was getting mixed together with my news feed. I set up a free account to send ecards through 123greetings.

Yeah, I went through their code....that's me not looking at it in the first place. Well, I found some problems and there are already a few things wrong with my news feed. I might have my scroller back I don't know but, I'll be double checking any code that I include on my site.

In the future it would be most helpful to mention that you have modified something that you
otherwise report as 'broke' instead of wasting all this time, space and effort.

What do you have to worry about, this isn't your job. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it. There is still a Firefox problem with some of my code that looks fine with IE and Opera and this could help someone else.

Quote · 22 Aug 2008

You are 100% CORRECT!  It is NOT my job  .....  rotsAruck to ya!

First, I never blamed it on Dolphin. Second it's someone else's code and I had to edit it myself while not pointing fingers. Third, I found it myself and I was going to post my findings with Firefox on this forum just in case someone went down the same road. So, what the point should I make a big argument over Firefox??

I think it's all frustration when things are not working or when you feel you're misunderstood. I would honestly prefer if people blame the script rather than other members, especially Rumpy, she's always helping.. she's a doll. But, I'm sure Rob meant no offence.

I never made any code changes to the Dolphin code. There might have been a thank you in the works but, for every action......

well if everyone else has no issues with firefox/ie7 and dolphin, why blame the script? why not take the blame yourself for wasting peoples time?

what was so wrong about that? to deserve the reply they got?

Fair comment.. I personally find blaming anyone or anything useless, but the point I was making is that the script might have some bugs and it's fair to bring them out.. but I would never agree with rudeness to other people.

You are right, there was nothing wrong in that comment to get that reply!.. Although I learnt not to judge what others intend behind their comments.. I still think no offence was intended.. As matter of fact I happen to have misread one of Rumpy's comments in the past coz I misread it.. but thats just people are.. No one is perfect.

What this forum needs is a Chill Pill. :))
