I tried to put FBs open graph tags in <head> in templates/base/_header.html, then my website suddenly got messed up. Is there a way to undo this? I tried to restore but it wont work. There's an error unzipping the file. Very frustrating did a lot of work, oh no...if anyone has an idea, I would really appreciate. thanks |
If you make any changes to the template files, you have to clear the site's cache. You can do this from the administration panel's dashboard. You can also clear the cache manually by emptying the following directories:
- /cache/ (don't remove the .htaccess file)
- /cache_public/
- /tmp/

I tried to do the restore by clicking the restore button. If I do the download, do you think it will work? How will I upload it back? And, am I also going to lose the members of my site in this case, if I am not able to restore it? |
thank you nathan...i will try that now |
You should be able to undo the code changes (or upload a new copy of the file) and clear the site's cache. You'll never have permanent damage from editing a template file. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
should i delete the .htaccess on tmp? thanks again...-myrab |
Forgot about that one. No, you shouldn't delete any .htaccess files. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
Its ok, didn't delete it anyway. Now the hosting provider has unzipped my backup file and placed it in softaculous_backups directory but I just have no idea what to do with it. should I just copy the template folder of the back to replace what's in public_html? |
Why are you applying backups when it's just a simple edit of the _header.html file? You should be able to just remove the code in question and clear your cache, or upload a fresh copy from a download. If you want to use a backup, you only need the _header.html file. When you mean clear cache, should i just delete those files in directories, right? I dont know how to make it work. I already deleted them. Will try to upload fresh copy of _header.html. This is the first time this happened to me but normally I could restore it with just a click. I feel bad , just out of curiosity. Thank you thank you again...Now it makes sense to me when you explain it. Thank you! |
If you want, I can have a look at your site. You can send me a message with the link. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |

Hello. Apparently, There are just a few sections on my website that are not appearing correctly when I am logged out. These are
If logged in everything looks great. Was thinking of making these sections visible only to members, just to fix this, but then it would be great to have these visible to the public. I would really appreciate any suggestions. My website URL http://www.mygaragegeek.com . Sections above are in tabs. Thanks.
