Extending default modules?

Hi developers :)

I'm a webdeveloper who is new to boonex dolphin modules. I have a few questions and would be happy if someone could help me getting into it.

My most important question is:

Is it possible to extend a module with another?

E.g. I would like to create a module which adds additional payment providers to the default payment module provided by boonex without modifying the boonex module.

What I don't like to do is to integrate my additional payments into the default module. The reason for that is that I would like to keep my system update able.

I'm very thankful if somebody could give me and idea how it could be accomplished.
Thankyou very much in advance.

Im sure it can be done. Not sure if you are willing to purchase a mod for it, but there is a product in the market that adds additional payment options to the default boonex payment module HERE

Hi Zarcon,

I would be buying it if there's an assurance that it's done the way I described. The boonex module should be untouched and the module should extend the default module.

I bought the module and it's disappointing! It's just a copy from the original and then extended the functions. It doesn't contain just an extension. It contains the whole module + extension.

Seems like it's not possible to extend a module by another module.

Did you notice the first part of the module page?

"This package is a set of additional payment providers which I integrated into the Dolphin default payment module. "

not extended, integrated

you may want to confer with martinboi, as his payment/subscriptions module is probably the best out there. as for extending functionality, seems to me that it could be done, but maybe not so much on an extended module, but in conjunction with the module. there are several payment providers who have API's, utilizing the API and writing your own extended module, seems would be the route you are seeking.

No it not. At lease not that i am aware of.

To get a module that has all the features of the old one + additional features requires the origional module be copied and enhanced and released as a new module.

Hi

I have installed Dolphin and all works fine except I am unable to access any modules other than the flash modules which are already installed.

What am I doing wrong, please. I have changed all of the permissions, etc........

This might be a silly question but you did install them right? Before you can use a module you have to install it by going to:

administration-> tools -> modules

Also in the future you might have better luck posting a new topic instead of bumping a topic that has nothing to do with your problem.
