Email Send Fail. Please try again later

Error when trying to send a greeting (poke someone) and i keep on getting this message.

"Email send failed. Please, try later."

any idea why? anyone?

Same issue here.  It just started but I don't know why.  It also comes up when I send a message.

Are these both D6.1 sites or D7?  Just checking before we diagnose

I found the solution to my particular issue.  It turns out no emails at all were being sent from my site and this was because I had tried to send out a mass mailer and set the number of emails per cron to 1000 and this was over the quota for my host and they shut down all emails from my server (whether cron or not) for about 24 hours.

They just started working again after that time period, so all is well here.
