Edit Profile Check Boxes Columns

Is there any way to have two or three columns for the check boxes on the edit profile page?

I have a few multiple selection via check box questions and the edit profile page is getting a little bit too long :)

I've struggling with this too, but I found this thread which helped me:

and so I've managed to get 4 columns for my checkboxes - but the formatting is rubbish. I've asked around for help with this so we'll see what happens...
