Download zip/rar files

Hello folks. I am working on a new project with my son and we are wanting users to be able to upload zip/rar files and those files also be downloadable. As it stands right now, uploading is fine. It is the downloading part that I am having a problem with.

With the rar file, nothing happens at all when trying to download. With the zip file it redirects to a page that is not found.

Any help getting through this would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! Log in to the Administration - Modules - Files - Settings - Field, Allowed extensions (leave blank to have all types)

i already have set as you mentioned. everything uploads fine - it is the downloading of zip and rar files that is the issue - there are no download settings that I know of - just uploading. Even increased post max size and upload sizes. Do i need to adjust the time for running scripts?
